WHO WE ARE

Energy Storage Solutions, LLC a battery energy storage company (BESS) was founded by the original owners and key staff of North Carolina Renewable Energy, LLC (NCRE) an experienced and successful solar development company of solar projects in North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. 

With NCRE under our control for 10 years, the solar pipeline grew to over 3.5 Gigawatts AC, from Greenfields to NTP to COD, becoming one of the largest Solar Developers east of the Mississippi River.


As a result of developing the NCRE solar projects we acquired dozens of sites adjoining the local substations, and along many of the transmission lines servicing these sub-stations as well. 

These existing site controls allowed us to proceed quickly in the development of ESS’s “Stand Alone” energy storage projects. ESS’s current pipeline of “Stand Alone” energy storage projects now exceeds over 5 Gigawatts AC of projects now in development.


Battery storage, or battery energy storage systems, is a technology that enables energy from renewables, like solar and wind, to be stored and then released when the power is needed most. Battery storage technology has a key part to play in ensuring homes and businesses can be powered by green energy, even when the sun isn’t shining or the wind has stopped blowing.

Our Business Structure

It has been the objective of Energy Storage Solutions, LLC to not only develop energy storage projects to NTP, but to be able to form partnerships with partners that can bring to us the Financial Modeling wherewithal, Tax Credit Investors, Capital Infusions, EPC contractors and the Long Term Ownerships required to get our projects to COD and to operate them beyond.

Our Mission

Our inventory of projects currently exceeds over 5 Gigawatts AC/ 20 Gigawatt hours of “Stand Alone” energy storage projects in NC, SC, & VA. ESS has over 40 individual 5MW AC/20MWh projects, over 40 individual 20MW ac/80MWh projects, and over 20 individual Energy Center Projects going up to 400MW AC/ 1,200MWh in size. These various sized projects will allow ESS to meet the market needs of the utilities in which we are located as the markets continue to evolve and expand.

Our Expertise

Additionally, ESS has developed projects in more than 12 different Utility Service Areas. This allows us to meet the different demands of the marketplace for energy storage projects, as the different utilities move forward at varying speeds to enter into the “green” energy storage marketplace at their own pace, to meet their local needs.
